The La Carlota Pasalamat Festival is its final stage in preparating for its 36th year of thanksgiving for this year 2015.

There are a lot of surprises for this year's edition as disclosed by the planning committee in a recent held at the function hall of the city. Barangay and school organizers, and NGOs with participating tribes attended the half-day meeting presided by Acting City Adminstrator Rommel C. Tam.

 The Blessings of Thanksgiving Rituals

The usual 12 thanksgiving rituals will be done by the Sangguniang Panlunsond Members. These rituals may include the blessing of fire, the blessing of money, the blessing of water, the blessing of fruits, the blessing of soil, and the blessing of timber.

Moreover, the other offerings are the blessing of goods, the blessing of kindness, the blessing of harmony, the blessing of peace, the blessing of youth, and the blessing of harvest.

The Negros Occidental vice governor Genaro M Alvarez, Jr., and governor Alfredo G. Marañon will share thoughts on the importance of festival and its relations to the economy and tourism of the country.

Official Declaration of Opening of the Festival

Mayor Juliet M. Ferrer will declare the official opening of Pasalamat Cultural and Arts Festival 2015. Then it will be followed by cutting of the ceremonial ribbon.

The 15-minute beating of drums of respective tribes and the blasting of siren will subdue the entire place afterwards. Then it will be followed by a nearly-an-hour of fireworks or pyrotechnics show on the sky of the city, which will enliven the entire festival park.

Let's go La Carlota and join with the crowd as the week-long Pasalamat Festival unfolds on April 27 and ends on May 3. Most awaited event on the said festival is the Search for Festival Queen on Saturday at the festival.

      Celebrating fiesta is a tradition among Filipinos. It is also the best opportune time for family reunion among close relatives.

    I'm not fond of attending fiestas or festivals program. The only thing I like in fiesta is we can visit our in-laws in the province and sort of reunion.

      You're absolutely correct, Michi. Fiesta is usually visited by friends, coworkers, family members who are living away from their own family. This tradition solidifies family ties among the Filipinos.

      You got it right Cym. La Carlota Festival named as Pasalamat, a weeklong activities of merrymaking, agro-trade fair, street dancing, among others will surely attract more visitors and tourists in our place.

    If given the chance, I would really like to visit a festival such as La Carlota's. It's just that, most festivals falls on weekdays or an entire week to celebrate. Just like our Sinukwan here in Pampanga.

      Pasalamat Festival is not a fiesta. Our city has a separate date for it and it is every January 24.

    Its been years since I visited La Carlota City. I visited the city because of my previous work. Now that I am back in my hometown, visiting the place it quite difficult for now.

Gone lately to a festival especially this month of April? That's good. What about attending some more festivities? Well, try La Castellana, Negros Occidental? Visit this progressive town and witness her annual Banana harvest festival that opens on the first day of April and ends on the 5th of April, wherein you can see different varieties of banana which abundantly are growing in the municipality. This festival coincides with the annual feast day of the town's patron saint, St. Vincent Ferrer. You can also appreciate their agricultural trade that exhibits her bountiful harvest, not only limited to banana produce, but other farm produce and root crops.
